CUMULATIVE RESULTS as of Jan 10, 1997
As in 1995, no news was received of Intercollegiate contests other than at OCGP in 1996. Two were held there, one in the Spring, one in the Fall. Both are summarized here and they determine the CSA standings for the year.

Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Gliding & Soaring Championships

Owl Canyon Gliderport, CO
October 6, 1996

The forecasts were excellent, the pilots were willing, so we called a "real" task on Saturday for the Individual Class. The tiny triangle was set a little larger for the teams. On Sunday, the forecast was still good and we gridded again expecting big things, but trigger temperature was never reached and no one could stay up. It would have been nice if we could run ABC gliding events as intended, but though USAFA had the pilots, we let them down with no competitors. Many thanks to volunteers from the Colorado Soaring Association (Curt, Dan, George...), to CU (Josh, Alison) for setting up the event. John Campbell gave a slide show on the earliest hang-gliding in the USA and Germany, and how the first soaring records were set. Overall results:

TEAM: 1. USAFA (1650) 2. CU (1418)
(ABC-BRNZ)

INDIVIDUAL: 1. McAllister, DU (1000) 2. Creech, USAFA (143)
(SLVR+) 3. Grimsdell, CU (43)
